Liberals conveniently forget that our Country is piling deeper in debt. As of 09/14/2015, when this post was published, the Debt Clock for the federal U.S. was about 18.4 trillion.
We have already run up a massive tab on our and our children's future, and each year we slide further towards insolvency.
This means that we barely have enough operating capital to pay for really important and necessary government programs, let alone provide millions of dollars each year for personal sexual products and services--as if the government has any business in people's bedrooms.. (see Funding Planned Parenthood)
Besides spending truckloads of money that we don't have on things about which the government shouldn't have a part, what the liberals don't get is that by forcing taxpayers to cover the price for other people's irresponsible sexual behavior, this unwittingly eliminates at least one disincentive to bad behavior, and may even serve to promote it--the more barriers that are removed to people getting into sexual trouble, the more sexual trouble they will get into, and the trouble isn't cheap.
Evidence for this may be found in the fact that: in spite of all the sex education courses and free family planning services, teen pregnancy are still high (4% for Blacks and Hispanics), but more critically, out-of-wedlock childbirths continue to skyrocket (see HERE), amassing billions of dollars in costs to the government.
According to the CDC:
- In 2010, teen pregnancy and childbirth accounted for at least $9.4 billion in costs to U.S. taxpayers for increased health care and foster care, increased incarceration rates among children of teen parents, and lost tax revenue because of lower educational attainment and income among teen mothers.
- Pregnancy and birth are significant contributors to high school drop out rates among girls. Only about 50% of teen mothers receive a high school diploma by 22 years of age, versus approximately 90% of women who had not given birth during adolescence.
- The children of teenage mothers are more likely to have lower school achievement and drop out of high school, have more health problems, be incarcerated at some time during adolescence, give birth as a teenager, and face unemployment as a young adult.
Not included in the billions mentioned above are: 1) nearly a billion a year is spent on abortions (see HERE); and 2) over 16 billion in medical expenses from upwardly trending STD's/STI's (see HERE and HERE and HERE) resulting from promiscuity, much of the payment for which has been born by the taxpayers and insurance customers.
Additionally, there are also a number of emotional and mental and social costs from promiscuity. (See HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE)
